Before I became part of ERM, I’d spent my career with an economic agency in Singapore, supporting a wide range of SMEs across sustainable energy. I worked with high-growth companies in renewable generation, battery storage, energy efficiency and all kinds of emerging technologies. For someone with a keen interest in climate change, it was a fascinating role – but I wanted to go one step further. ERM offered the chance to take that step. Here, the clients are corporate giants and members of the fortune 500. Working on impactful projects with such influential companies means our results actually move the needle – what we do matters in the world.

I knew all about the company’s technical expertise before I joined, but I didn’t know how strong the technical community was here. It stretches right around the world, yet it’s close-knit – experts in a variety of disciplines, united by a common purpose. Within the first few weeks, I was working on a SingaporeUK-based project with the support from consultants in Vietnam and Thailand, patiently guiding me through my first greenhouse gas calculations. Now, as a member of the corporate sustainability and climate change team, I work on a range of climate risk assessments, sustainability reporting and decarbonisation strategy projects. And, with each piece of work, I’ve found the same supportive, collaborative culture in action.

The consultants here are unafraid to get into the technical details of what we do – eager to share their knowledge and skills. I think people here really enjoy these scientific conversations. Climate change is a matter of science, so it makes sense that our discussions, advice and services are all conducted in the language of science. I find it an inspiring, enriching environment, which helps me learn constantly in this ever-changing sector.

Recently, I received an award for my work with a client from the private equity sector. It’s all about monitoring, progressing and challenging companies within the client’s portfolio, in terms of the strategy for climate change – so can involve everything from conducting workshops and analyzing ESG data, to running decarbonization and climate risk pilots. It’s a wonderful compliment to have that effort recognized, particularly when there are so many technical experts and future leaders here. I’m so proud to be part of this community.
